The region Nordoberpfalz in includes Eastern Bavaria areas of the districts Neustadt / Waldnaab , Tirschenreuth and the independent city of Weiden idOPf. and thus the northern part of the Upper Palatinate .

Several organizations from the area have already come together under this name. There is the Wirtschaftsclub Nordoberpfalz and the Kliniken Nordoberpfalz AG . In this the previous public hospitals of the local authorities were combined. Political parties and their youth associations also sometimes use this term in their names. For example the district association DIE LINKE. Nordoberpfalz and its youth association Linksjugend Nordoberpfalz. The Jusos Nordoberpfalz also use the term.

A merger of the savings banks from the aforementioned area was also planned under the name Sparkasse Nordoberpfalz, but after the United Sparkassen in the Neustadt / Waldnaab district abandoned this, the merger of the Sparkassen Tirschenreuth and Weiden now operates under the name Sparkasse Oberpfalz Nord . The Nordoberpfalz Center (NOC) shopping center, which opened in Weiden in 2019, also bears the name of the region.
