The Norsk Ornitologisk Forening (NOF, Norwegian Ornithological Association) was founded in 1957 . The main task of the association is the protection of birds and nature .

structure

It was founded in 1957. According to the company, there are around 9,000 members. The head office is in Trondheim , where the full-time staff and project staff also work. In the various regions there are regional structures and a total of 55 local groups.

job

The NOF sees networking among Norwegian ornithologists as an important concern. In the course of history, the idea of nature conservation has gained ground in the organization and the protection of habitats has gained importance in the work. The NOF sees the key task of promoting the best conditions for the domestic avifauna by means of documentation and research - as a lobby organization for birds, so to speak.

The member magazine Vår Fuglefauna (“Our Avifauna” or “Our Bird World”) appears four times a year. Fuglevennen ("The Bird Friend ") is published twice a year and contains material and information about the local nature and birds. The NOF also publishes the scientific journal Ornis Norvegica and once a year Ringmerkaren ("Der Vogelberinger"). NOF members ring more than 200,000 birds annually.

Norsk Ornitologisk Forening (NOF) is a national partner of BirdLife International .
