Nortek is an American manufacturer of air conditioning and security technology.
The company was founded in 1967 by Ralph R. Papitto. Nortek was listed on the stock exchange from 1969 until it was taken over by the private equity company Kelso & Company in 2002. In 2011 the company went public again. In 2015, the video signal processing division was spun off as tvONE through a management buy-out .
Nortek has been owned by the British private equity firm Melrose Industries since 2016 .
90% of sales are generated in North America, 7% in Europe (09-12 / 2016).
