The North East Creek is a creek in the US states of Pennsylvania and Maryland . It is 26.5 kilometers long and has a catchment area of 65 square kilometers.
The stream rises in East Nottingham Township south of Borough Oxford in Chester County . It flows south and soon reaches Cecil County , Maryland. On the border with the city of North East , the North East Creek and the Little North East Creek form the North East River , a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay . The average annual runoff is between 0.4 and 1.7 cubic meters per second, the highest documented being about 255 cubic meters as a result of Hurricane Floyd in 1999.
The North East Creek has several inter-regional transport links, including Interstate 95 and Amtrak's Northeast Corridor . The creek is also spanned by the Gilpin's Falls Covered Bridge, built in 1860 .
