Northeast is a small town ( Town ) in Cecil County in the US state of Maryland . It had 3572 inhabitants at the 2010 census, almost twice as many as 20 years earlier (1913 inhabitants in 1990). North East has been a separate parish since 1850.

Location of North East in Cecil County

The village of North East is located on the eponymous North East River in northeast Maryland. From here begins the estuary of the small river, which quickly widens to a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay . The center of the city lies on the east bank of the North East River, a small part of the municipality extends several kilometers along the North East Creek to the north to the entrance to Interstate 95 . North East has an area of ​​4.2 km².
