The North Spit is a headland that forms the southwestern extension of the Weaver Peninsula from King George Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It marks the north side of the entrance to Marian Cove .
Her descriptive name is first recorded on a map based on surveys by scientists from the British Discovery Investigations in 1935. In contrast, South Korean scientists named it in 2012 as Bandal Cape after a Korean name for the crescent moon .
