Northern Kings is a four-person Finnish heavy metal - Supergroup .

Band history

Northern Kings in 2007 with the aim of metal - cover versions to create well-known hits from the 1980s, founded. The members, who are all members of well-known Finnish metal bands, include Marco Hietala , the bassist and singer of the bands Tarot and Nightwish , Tony Kakko , the singer of the band Sonata Arctica , Jarkko Ahola , the singer and bassist of the band Teräsbetoni and Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto , the singer of the band Charon .

On September 26, 2007, the debut single We Don't Need Another Hero , a cover version of the 1985 hit by Tina Turner , was released and reached number 7 in the Finnish singles charts. On October 31, 2007, the album Reborn was released , which also reached number 7 and was awarded gold in Finland at the end of 2007 for over 17,000 units sold. While all four members sing on the Turner cover, the remaining twelve songs were interpreted by one of the singers each.

With Rethroned was published the second existing entirely of cover versions album on 19 November, 2008.
