Northfields is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Ealing . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 3 on Northfield Avenue. In 2013, 4.10 million passengers used this station served by the Piccadilly Line . One of the two workshops on the line is located around 500 meters to the west.

The Metropolitan District Railway (MDR; predecessor of the District Line ) had opened the line between Acton Town and Hounslow Town in 1883 and electrified it in 1905, but the trains ran without stopping in Northfields for 25 years. Finally, on April 16, 1908, the MDR opened the Northfields Halt station on the existing line , which was named Northfields & Little Ealing on December 11, 1911 . When it became apparent at the beginning of the 1930s that the station was in the way of the access tracks to the planned operating workshop, a relocation to the east side of Northfield Avenue proved necessary. The new station was opened on May 19, 1932 and was given its current name. Trains of the Piccadilly Line first stopped here on January 9, 1933, from March 13 of the same year they continued in the direction of Hounslow West . Since October 9, 1964, only the Piccadilly Line operates on the section west of Acton Town, as the District Line was shortened.

The station building was built in 1932 according to the plans of the architect Charles Holden , with the support of Stanley Heaps . It combines functionalism and Art Deco . The most striking feature is a tall, square red brick tower with long, narrow ceilings . The building has been a listed building ( Grade II ) since 1994 , including the walls of the forecourt and the platforms.
