The Norths Highland is an icy plateau on the Banzare coast of the East Antarctic Wilkesland . It is located south of Cape Goodenough between Maury Bay and Porpoise Bay .
The American polar explorer Charles Wilkes named it North's High Land after James Heyward North (1815-1893), captain of the brig Porpoise at Wilkes' United States Exploring Expedition (1838-1842). The name was changed to its current form in 1956 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names .
