Northstar Island ( Spanish Islote Estrella del Norte ) is a low and rocky island off the Fallières coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 1.5 km northwest of the western end of the Neny Island in Marguerite Bay .
Participants in the British Graham Land Expedition (1934–1937) led by the Australian polar explorer John Rymill carried out the first rough mapping in 1936. The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey measured them in 1947 and named the island after the USMS North Star , one of the ships of the United States Antarctic Service Expedition (1939–1941), which sailed Marguerite Bay in 1940.
