Notaphilia is the knowledge of paper money or the collection of paper money . Paper bills are z. B. World banknotes , national banknotes and emergency banknotes . Just as there are coin catalogs for coin collectors, there are also catalogs for paper money. Albert Pick and Arnold Keller , for example, made important contributions in this area with their catalogs.

The first banknotes appeared in China in the 7th century . The first emergency money made out of paper in Europe came from a Moorish occupation in Spain in 1483 and the first banknotes in Europe were in Sweden in the 17th century .

Paper money is collected according to:

  • Subject (e.g. famous people)
  • Periods of time
  • Countries
  • conservation
