Urge (band)

Notdurft was a German-speaking punk band from Bielefeld .

history

The band was founded around 1978 as a school band by bassist Johann "Jones" Stolze and singer Thomas Pielecki. Until the self-titled debut album was recorded in 1982, the guitarists Uli Frischemeyer and Bernd Hövelmeyer were added, along with drummer Lutz Kramer and singer Carola Prietzel (“Rolli”).

In 1983 Uli Frischemeyer had a fatal accident and Lutz had to give up the drums for health reasons. So then Albert Klose (guitar) and Oliver Bednorz (drums) joined the band. In 1985 the band broke up temporarily.

With Dave Evans as the new singer, Jones Stolze, Bernd Hövelmeyer, Albert Klose and Oliver Bednorz continued as Mind Overboard . After some line-up changes, the band finally consisted of Jones Stolze, Bernd Hövelmeyer, Andreas Hancock (guitar), Morten Wienold (drums) and Fritz Kraft (vocals) and broke up in 1994. At the farewell concert by Mind Overboard there was an appearance by Notdurft, who from then on continued with the line-up of Thomas Pielecki (vocals), Jones Stolze (bass), Bernd Hövelmeyer (guitar), Albert Klose (guitar) and Oliver Bednorz (drums).

In 1997 Bernd Hövelmeyer left the band and shortly afterwards Albert Klose also left. Andreas Hancock (formerly Mind Overboard, Xenomorph) and Wolke (Michael Wolkstein, Xenomorph) came as replacements. Two more concerts were played with this line-up. On June 3rd, 1997 Thomas Pielecki died and the rest of the band broke up after a farewell concert.

Jones Stolze later played with the bands Petra , Animales Con Ruido , Commandantes and currently Caminos and Human Hair People . Bernd Hövelmeyer recorded some living room studio albums solo, which musically move between proto-punk and blues, before returning to the stage with the material and the band The Nymphomaniacs (with Andreas Hancock, among others). In addition to the nymphomaniacs, he also plays with the band Uschi Obermaier Experience .
