Uschi Obermaier
Ursula "Uschi" Obermaier (born September 24, 1946 in Munich ), temporary artist name: Chrissi Malberg , is a former photo model . She was a member of Commune I for a while and became known as an advocate of the sexual revolution in Germany during the 1968 movement . In addition, it is considered as the first German rock music - groupie .
Life
Obermaier was born as the daughter of a decorator. After graduating from school, she began an apprenticeship as a photo retoucher, which she broke off for a short time. After a certain time, fashion photographers became aware of Obermaier. She then moved from Munich to Berlin and from there to London. In numerous photo series for magazines, including for US Vogue 1973, she not only showed her face, but also her body and the professional rolling of joints . Her career led to the photo studios of Helmut Newton and Richard Avedon . Once discovered by reporters from Twen magazine , Obermaier quickly became the sex symbol of a whole generation. At the age of 50, she had herself photographed again for Playboy and again at 60 for Stern .
As a groupie of the Munich band Amon Düül , she met the Communard Rainer Langhans at the International Essen Song Festival in 1968 . She was a member of the Berlin Commune I . She lived there with Dieter Kunzelmann , Fritz Teufel , Ulrich Enzensberger and her boyfriend at the time, Rainer Langhans. The couple spoke openly in the media about their relationship and free love . However, the Munich resident was not considered an APO activist. In her autobiography, High Times , she describes her experiences with Rainer Langhans and other protagonists of Commune I, before moving with Langhans in Munich to the High Fish Commune founded by Thomas Althoff (also written as Haifisch Commune ): “Kunzelmann and his people became junkies before our eyes and at the same time more and more militant ”. In her autobiography The Wild Life , she confirms affairs with Mick Jagger and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones and indirectly with Jimi Hendrix . According to her descriptions, breakfast with the Stones always consisted of caviar and champagne - in her case apple juice, a line of heroin and a joint.
Obermaier also acted in several films. In 1968 she played alongside Iris Berben and under the direction of Rudolf Thome in Detektiven and was seen as the leading actress in the 1969 film Rote Sonne . Rainer Langhans is said to have been present during the entire filming period. Together with him she also took on a small role in the German feature film Haytabo in 1971 . The Italian producer Carlo Ponti , sponsor of Gina Lollobrigida , Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren (whose husband he became), is said to have offered her a ten-year contract, which should have provided ten films during this period and the first one directed by Michelangelo Antonioni , the But Obermaier refused.
From 1973 Obermaier lived together with Dieter Bockhorn , the operator of the Adler gallery-café in Hamburg. From 1976 she traveled with him for several years in converted buses around the world - first 20 months on the hippie trail through Asia, then three years through the USA and Mexico. Reports that they were married according to local custom in every country the two toured, Obermaier described in an interview with the magazine Galore as fictitious. In fact, they only got married once in India , whereby Uschi Obermaier always emphasizes that it was only a happening , not an actual marriage. Dieter Bockhorn died in a motorcycle accident in Mexico on New Year's Eve 1983 .
Obermaier then met an American couple in Baja California / Mexico , whom she later referred to as “my surrogate parents”. They offered Obermaier their guest house, but she preferred to stay in her bus in the garage driveway. Through the woman, an artist, Obermaier learned the craft of jewelry making, so that she soon made her own jewelry.
Obermaier is now a US citizen . She lives in Topanga Canyon near Los Angeles and works there as a jewelry designer.
