Nou Barris is a district of Barcelona in the northeast of the Catalan capital with around 165,000 inhabitants (as of 2016).

The former Institut Mental de la Santa Creu i de Sant Pau , opened in 1889 as a hospital for the (then so-called) mentally ill and closed in 1987, is now the seat of the district administration.

The area of ​​the urban district originally belonged to the neighboring towns of Horta (today Horta-Guinardó ) and Sant Andreu . The extensive settlement did not take place until the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The name "Nou Barris" literally means "9 neighborhoods" and refers to the number of them when it was founded in 1984. Today, the Nou Barris district is divided into 13 neighborhoods:
