Les Corts is the fourth of the ten boroughs of the Catalan capital, Barcelona . Its area of ​​6.02 square kilometers makes it the third smallest, and with a population of around 83,000 it ranks last compared to the other city districts. Its population density of around 13,800 inh. / Km² is slightly below the city average. The current district of Pedalbres belonged to Sarrià until 1984 . It is named after the Pedralbes monastery founded in 1326 . from the 14th century. The Güell Pavilions , built in 1887 by Antoni Gaudí , are now owned by the University of Barcelona . The Palau Reial de Pedralbes in the middle of a large garden is a former royal palace, from 1919 to 1931 it was the residence of the Spanish royal family when visiting Barcelona, ​​and since 2009 it has been the seat of the General Secretariat of the Mediterranean Union . The Circuit de Pedralbes road circuit was a motorsport racetrack from 1946 to 1957, at that time still outside of Barcelona.
