Ciutat Vella ( Catalan for old town , Castilian : Ciudad Vieja ) is the first of the ten districts of the Catalan capital Barcelona . It has around 100,000 inhabitants on 4.37 square kilometers. The district corresponds to the historical center of the city and includes the area within the city walls of the 14th and 15th centuries and the district of La Barceloneta , which was outside the walls.
