NovaLogic Inc. was an American developer and publisher of computer games founded in 1985 by John Garcia and based in Calabasas (California) . His best-known successes include the successful military simulation series Comanche , Armored Fist and Delta Force . Novalogic was also one of the first companies to use voxel graphics in their games.

history

After the founding of NovaLogic in 1985 by John Garcia, the company initially ported mainly arcade games to PC platforms, for example the first PC port of Bubble Bobble . In the early 1990s, the company also developed Super Mario's Wacky Worlds, a successor to Super Mario World for the CD-i game console . However, because of the weak sales of the console, development was stopped early and the game was never released.

Comanche: Maximum Overkill , published in 1992, was the prelude to a four-part series of flight simulations about the RAH-66 Comanche attack helicopter . As the first publication, it used the VoxelSpace engine developed by Novalogic , which was further developed by Novalogic and later also used for other series. In 1994 NovaLogic opened a European office in London . Under the direction of Paul Rebhan , a team of eleven took care of distribution , sales and marketing within Europe.

Developments in numerous simulations of armed conflicts made the US Army aware of NovaLogic. In 1999, the subsidiary NovaLogic Systems Inc. (NLS) was founded, which made the technology developed by NovaLogic for the gaming sector usable for military and civil training units. NLS developed the training software for the land warrior soldier system in cooperation with various commanders of the US Army . NLS is working with Lockheed Martin , Boeing and Sikorsky on these developments .

Novalogic operated dedicated multiplayer servers for its games. In November 2008 the new official community site novaworld2.com started as part of the new title Delta Force: Angel Falls . It included new features such as galleries, profile pages and clan pages. As usual, there was a forum there. The new Novaworld games site also offered the functions of a social network. You could set up friend lists, blog, visit a chat room or talk to a friend in person on a messenger. The domain is now redirecting to the company website.

NovaLogic released Delta Force Xtreme 2 and the 10th Anniversary Collection via the German publisher cdv (contains six games from the Delta Force series and a Black Hawk Down soundtrack CD). Since then, the company has not appeared as a game developer. On October 31, 2016, the Swedish computer games company THQ Nordic announced that it would take over all of Novalogic's business areas, including the brand.
