Noxiustoxin (synonym Kaliumkanaltoxin alpha-KTx 2.1 ) is a neurotoxin from the Mexican scorpion Centruroides noxius .

properties

Noxiustoxin is a peptide and a scorpion toxin from the venom of Centruroides noxius , like Slotoxin . It binds to voltage-gated and calcium-gated potassium channels and blocks them, including the voltage-gated mKv1.1 / KCNA1 ( Kd > 25 nM ), rKv1.2 / KCNA2 (Kd = 2 nM), mKv1.3 / KCNA3 (Kd = 1 nM), hKv1.5 / KCNA5 (Kd> 25 nM) and mKv3.1 / KCNC1 (Kd> 25 nM) as well as the calcium-dependent KCa1.1 / KCNMA1 and KCa3.1 / KCNN4 (Kd> 25 nM). Noxiustoxin is amidated . It is structurally related to charybdotoxin a and charybdotoxin b .
