The Nugaal or Nogal is a seasonal water-bearing river in northeast Somalia (or Somaliland and Puntland ), which flows into the Indian Ocean .

course

The Nugaal rises in the Sool region and then crosses the Nugaal region named after it in a west-east direction , where it flows into the ocean at Eyl . It is fed by numerous smaller watercourses and fills up for a short time after the Gu rains from April to June.

Nugaaleed Valley

The catchment area of the Nugaal is called the Nugaal or Nugaaleed Valley (Somali: Dooxo Nugaaleed ). In addition to the Nugaal, the Dheere flows through the valley as the second larger river. In the dry season, some watering holes remain in the river beds all year round, which the mostly nomadic inhabitants of the region visit. High plateaus rise on both sides of the valley.

The Nugaal Valley is also one of the areas of Somalia suspected of having oil deposits .
