Numenios (Seleucid)
Numenios was under the Seleucid king Antiochus III. or Antiochus IV. Governor in the satrapy of the Erythrean Sea . After a short message from Pliny , he won two battles against the Persians in one day , once with a fleet, the other time with his cavalry. The Persians mentioned by Pliny are the province of Persis , which obviously tried to break away from the Seleucid Empire, which Numenios successfully prevented. Numenios erected a double victory sign, which he dedicated to Zeus and Poseidon .
