Nunn Island is an icy island off the Bakutis coast of Marie Byrd Land in West Antarctica . It is located in the middle of the Getz Ice Shelf immediately south of Wright Island .
The United States Geological Survey mapped the island based on its own measurements and aerial photographs by the United States Navy from 1959 to 1966. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named it in 1967 after Rear Admiral Ira Hudson Nunn (1901-1998), who was responsible for legal issues in the As part of the support of the work in the context of the International Geophysical Year (1957–1958) by the US Navy.
