Just go away

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Only gone is a Schnellpolka by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 383). The work was performed for the first time on March 2, 1879 in the concert hall of the Wiener Musikverein .

Remarks

The polka was put together based on motifs from the unsuccessful operetta Blinde Kuh . The work thus joins a series of compositions (opus numbers 381 , 382 , 384 , and 385 ) that take up all the themes from this operetta. In this case, the composer processes the melody Nur fort, only cool away to the shadow, to the meadow there, to the play from the second act of the operetta. The first performance of the work on March 2, 1879 as part of the carnival revue was conducted by Eduard Strauss .

The playing time on the CD listed under individual records is 3 minutes and 2 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
