Nuraghe Sa Jua

The Sa Jua nuraghe is located about 400 m from the village of Aidomaggiore in the province of Oristano in Sardinia .

It is a “ nuraghe a tancato” made of basalt blocks arranged in regular rows.

The main tower is equipped with an access with a lintel and a relief opening above. The access belongs to a corridor more than 5.0 m long. There is a small guard cell on the right . On the left a staircase leads to the upper floor. In the main tower (mastio) the tholos of the chamber is intact. The chamber has three niches about 1.0 m deep. Only a few rows of stones remain from the top floor. Long ago a large iron cross was attached above; its rust marred the inner walls of the tholos.

The main tower is connected to the side tower by a small courtyard. This tower, covered with rubble and bushes, has no ceiling and has a trapezoidal architrave at the entrance .

Nearby are the giant tomb of Su Pranu and the Nuraghe Losa .
