Nusser Island is an island off the Graham Coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the Biscoe Islands archipelago , it is 2.5 km north of Laktionov Island off the east side of Renaud Island .
The island was first shown on an Argentine map from 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after the Austrian meteorologist Franz Nusser (1902–1987), whose main focus was sea ice research .
