Laktionov Island is a 3 km long island inthe Biscoe Islands archipelago west of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is located 6 km northeast of Jurva Point on the Renaud Island .
The island appears for the first time on an Argentine map from 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after Alexander Fyodorowitsch Laktionov (1899–1965), Soviet sea ice researcher at the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute in Leningrad and head of the Oceanography Department there, Ice forecasts and estuaries from 1927 until his death.
