The Jurva Point is a headland at the end of a peninsula , the south-eastern end of Renaud Island in the archipelago of Biscoe Islands west of the Antarctic Peninsula .
The headland is first shown on Argentine maps from 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1959 after the Finnish oceanographer Risto Jurva (1888–1953), a pioneer in the study of sea ice .
