Nuttall (mountain)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As Nuttall is called a mountain in England and Wales , of at least 2,000 feet (609.6 meters) is high and (15.2 meters) rises from its surroundings at least 50 feet. This whimsical classification was introduced by John and Anne Nuttall and includes 252 mountains in England and 188 in Wales.

With the exception of Pillar Rock , a pinnacle on the Pillar in the Lake District , all Nuttalls can be climbed without special rock climbing equipment. As of September 2006, 134 people are known to have climbed all of the Nuttalls.

It has been criticized that too many insignificant mountains were added to the list by considering a notch height of only 15 meters. The Hewitts' list is an attempt to correct this shortcoming.

In August 2018 it became known that Miller Moss , located in the Lake District National Park, is not 609 meters, as previously assumed, but 610.1 meters and is therefore to be included in the standard work The Mountains of England and Wales by Anne and John Nuttall .
