The Ellerbeck Peak is a 675 m (according to UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee around 300 m ) high mountain in Georgia . It rises west of Long Point on the Barff Peninsula .
Participants in the first Antarctic voyage of the Norvegia (1927–1928), financed by the Norwegian whaling entrepreneur Lars Christensen , mapped it and named it Mount Bryde . Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it again in 1929 and named it after midshipman W. P. O'Connor of the Reserve Forces of the Royal Navy , who was involved in the necessary surveying work.
