OTP Bank Rt. Is the largest Hungarian banking company and is active in Hungary as well as in numerous Central and Eastern European countries.

The abbreviation OTP stands for Országos Takarékpénztár (Landessparkasse).

The company emerged from the state savings bank OTP of the same name, founded in 1949, which was privatized in 1991 like the other two state banks, the foreign trade bank and the investment bank .

Thanks to ambitious acquisitions since privatization, the OTP Group is now also represented in Slovakia , Ukraine , Bulgaria , Romania , Croatia , Serbia , Montenegro and, more recently, Russia .

The company is listed as a stock corporation on the Budapest Stock Exchange and is represented in the BUX stock exchange index.

Sponsorship

The bank sponsors the 1st Hungarian Football League . Since 2011 the championship has been called the OTP Bank League .
