The Oasi di Bolgheri are a private nature reserve and part of the Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri (district of the municipality of Castagneto Carducci ), Province of Livorno , Italy . The Marchese Mario Incisa della Rocchetta presented in 1959 , this 500-hectare area as the first nature reserve in Italy the WWF Italy available.

The wetland of international importance is populated by thousands of water birds from November to May. Among other things, the little grebes , purple herons , numerous species of ducks and the coot nest here , and many migratory birds stop here, for example the great egret , the common snipe and the black stork .

The area is located between the thick pine forest and a wide, dune-rich beach. This section of the old Maremma is a habitat for wild boar , fallow deer , roe deer , martens , turtles , mallards and wood pigeons .
