Upper Mühlviertel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The western part of the Mühlviertel is referred to as the Upper Mühlviertel . This is geographically separated from the Lower Mühlviertel by the so-called Haselgraben (north of Linz ) and the Rodltal (Große Rodl) to the north . It includes the Rohrbach district , the western part of the Urfahr-Umgebung district and parts of the Linz city area .

This region has been referred to as the Mühlviertel since Upper Austria was divided into quarters (1478), and in 1779 it was merged with what was then known as the Machlandviertel (today: Lower Mühlviertel ) to form today's Mühlviertel.
