Lower Mühlviertel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The eastern part of the Mühlviertel is referred to as the Lower Mühlviertel . This is geographically separated from the Upper Mühlviertel by the so-called Haselgraben (north of Linz ) and the Rodltal (Große Rodl) to the north . It includes the districts of Perg , Freistadt , the eastern part of the Urfahr-Umgebung district and parts of the Linz city area.

This region was called the Machlandviertel after the district division of Upper Austria (1478) , and in 1779 it was merged with the Mühlviertel (today: Upper Mühlviertel ) to form today's Mühlviertel. The lower Mühlviertel lies in the granite and gneiss plateau , one of the 5 major Austrian landscapes.

Regions of the Lower Mühlviertel are for example: Riedmark and Machland .
