The Oberhof Ballenstedt is located in the southern old town of Ballenstedt next to the town hall.

Nowadays a palace , the Oberhof was once a fortified town castle , which has been in the feudal ownership of its builder, the Lords of Stammer , since its construction in the 16th century . Their tombstones and epitaphs from the 16th century are still in Ballenstedt's Nikolaikirche . Later it belonged to the von Krosigk family and from 1825 to the ducal house of Anhalt-Bernburg .

Inside the late Gothic three-wing building, the cross vaults on the ground floor from the time it was built are still preserved. The connecting passage between the west and east wings was added in the 19th century.

In 1869 Armgard von Alvensleben acquired the property from the Neugattersleben house , laid out the 15,000 m² park and left the Oberhof in 1920 to the Alvensleben family foundation .

From 1948, the Oberhof housed a day-care center. This was dissolved in 2002. Today it is again in the possession of the von Alvensleben family . In 2010, the renovation of the palace building began, which is funded by the German Foundation for Monument Protection with 30,000 euros.
