Oberjäger Chapel
The Oberjäger Chapel , also called Oberjäger-Bildstock or Oberjägerkreuz , is located in the town of Bärnbach in the Voitsberg district in western Styria ( Austria ). The origins of the wayside shrine go back to the end of the 19th century. The wayside shrine is a listed building .
history
The original wayside shrine was consecrated on September 10, 1890. Due to the construction of a new road crossing, the wayside shrine had to be demolished in the early 1970s. The statue was brought to Salla . In 1994 it was restored on behalf of the Federal Monuments Office and then integrated into a wayside shrine, which the Bregar family had in place of the original wayside shrine built in 1994/95 in front of their single-family house on Oberjägerplatz. This was consecrated on May 16, 1996. The Oberjäger Chapel serves today as a station at the meat consecration and as a prayer station at the Emm exit on Easter Sunday.
description
In the wayside shrine built in 1994/95 there is a larger than life, baroque statue of Christ made of sandstone. The painterly design comes from Franz Weiss and shows what happened on the Mount of Olives.
