Trolleybus Riga
The Riga trolleybus is the only trolleybus operator in Latvia . The trolleybus service in the capital Riga was opened on November 6, 1947 and has since supplemented the local tram, which has existed since 1882 . It is operated by the company RP SIA Rīgas satiksme and has 19 lines. These are served by 328 cars, most of them from the Czech manufacturer Škoda . The vehicles are located in two different depots .
history
The first Riga trolleybus line was opened on November 4, 1947, it ran from the Viestura garden to Daugavpilser Straße. The first type of trolleybus in Riga was JaTB-1 trolleybuses built in Yaroslavl . The first trolleybus depot was located on the grounds of the tram depot at today's Brīvības iela (then Ļeņina iela), later the first independent trolleybus depot was opened at Ganību dambis. In 1948 a second line went into operation, connecting the central market with Sarkandaugava. It was later extended to Mežaparks.
In 1961 two new lines were opened, one in Āgenskalns, another led to Buļļu iela. The first Škoda trolleybuses were also delivered in 1961.
The first trolleybuses of the type Škoda 14Tr01 were delivered in 1982, later followed by the type Škoda 14Tr02. In 1989 the first Škoda 15Tr articulated wagon was put into service. They replaced the long time to Riga trolleybus years of operation typical Oberleitungsbusdoppeltraktionen type Škoda 9Tr total there were 103 units. The first of them were formed in 1973, the last operated in 2001. Later, some of the last Škoda trolleybuses delivered were modernized and henceforth referred to as 14TrM and 15TrM.
In 2001, eleven trolleybuses from the Belarusian provider Belkommunmash were procured on a test basis.
Between 2001 and 2007, 52 articulated cars from the Solaris Trollino 18 series followed. From 2007 onwards, Škoda 24Tr Irisbus solo cars.
Since September 1, 2009, the trolleybuses on lines 9 and 27 in the center of Riga have been using their auxiliary engine in scheduled passenger service.
In 2013, Škoda won a tender for the delivery of a total of 125 low-floor articulated wagons of the type 27Tr. There is also an option in the contract to purchase 38 more vehicles. The equipment includes air conditioning, a modern passenger information system and an automatic passenger counting device . Between 2007 and 2009, 150 Škoda 24Tr trolleybuses had been delivered.
