The trolleybus depot

The Tallinn trolleybus is the only trolleybus operator in Estonia . The trolleybus service in the capital Tallinn was opened on July 6, 1965 and has since supplemented the Tallinn tram, which has existed since 1888 . At that time the city was the last capital of a Soviet republic to be equipped with a trolleybus system.

Trolleybuses in Tallinn, like trams and city buses , are operated by the Tallinna Linnatranspordi AS ( TLT ) municipal transport company. This emerged on July 19, 2012 from the predecessor company Tallinna Trammi- ja Trollibussikoondise AS ( TTTK ).

Lines

The following five lines operate today :

1 Mustamäe - Kaubamaja 15.9 km
3 Mustamäe - Kaubamaja 15.9 km
4th Keskuse - Balti jaam 14.3 km
5 Mustamäe - Balti jaam 13.9 km

The former line 8, it ran from Väike-Õismäe to Vabaduse väljak, was abandoned in 2000. The former line 2, it operated on the Mustamäe – Estonia route and was 15.2 kilometers long, was replaced by bus line 24 on December 1, 2012. On January 1, 2016, lines 6 and 7 were also switched to hybrid buses . On May 2, 2017, lines 9 were switched to hybrid buses. The fleet for regular operation was reduced to 51 vehicles as a result of this and by writing off old vehicles of the types 14Tr, 15Tr and 412T. Since then, only low-floor wagons have been used as planned.
