The house Oberstraße 2 is a listed residential building in the town of Harzgerode in Saxony-Anhalt in the Harz region .

It is located at the western end, on the north side of Oberstraße, directly opposite the confluence of Braugasse in the old town of Harzgerode.

Architecture and history

The building was built during the redevelopment of the western part of the Oberstraße after the town fire in 1817. In the past it was the first house behind the Obertor, which has not been preserved . The plastered building was built in half-timbered construction in the classicism style . The street-side facade of the house standing on a raised base has seven axes, with the house entrance being arranged in the middle axis. A two-flight flight of stairs leads to the entrance . Above the central axis there is a dwelling . At times it was decorated with a sundial and signs of the zodiac . The building was renovated at the beginning of the 21st century.

The building is listed as a residential building under registration number 094 84759 in the local monument register.
