The Düsseldorf Overtone Choir is the first and probably best known overtone choir in Germany.
Christian Bollmann founded the choir in September 1985. The occasion was the concert production “New Meditative Music”, which the choir played in Düsseldorf together with the Roberto Laneris Memory Rainbow Ensemble . Due to the great response, the choir developed an initial program with compositions by Roberto Laneri and Christian Bollmann. He presented this on a concert tour through Germany in 16 churches and museums.
In 1987 invitations to the German Evangelical Church Congress in Frankfurt and the European Choir Days (Passau) followed. In 1988 the choir toured Germany with Rüdiger Oppermann's Klangwelten Festival . In 1995 the cycle "CON-SEQUENZEN" was premiered at the festival for the European Symposium on Choral Music in Ljubljana . The choir also performed at festivals in Lanzarote and Innsbruck .
The choir consists of nine singers (four sopranos and five altos) and eight singers (four tenors, four bassists), all of whom are practiced in overtone singing.
The concerts and CD productions of the choir are z. T. very successful. Today, the choir mainly performs new meditative choral music composed by Bollmann and Anita Holtmann with a spectrum from overtone singing of European and Mongolian influences to minimal music , Bulgarian vocal techniques and Tibetan and Sufi singing rituals to Byzantine chants.
