Lists on the subject |
The Obregón pistol is a self-loading pistol in .45 ACP caliber developed in Mexico in the 1930s by Alejandro Obregón . The weapon is like outside the Colt M1911, forward in the area of the barrel has slides but a round profile.
function
In contrast to the Colt M1911 , which unlocks by tilting the barrel according to the Browning system , the Obregón pistol works on a variant of the principle of the screw cap.
After the shot closure and run run together back short, then the barrel is rotated by a cam, which in a lying in the grip behind the closing spring sleeve with an obliquely milled setting engages. Through this rotation of the barrel, the two locking cams on top of the barrel release the slide. This runs back, ejects the shot case, pushes a new cartridge into the chamber in the run and is locked again in the last phase by the rotation of the barrel; the gun is ready to fire. This function largely corresponds to that of the Austrian Steyr M1912 pistol. The other functions correspond to those of the Colt M1911 except for details, the magazine also corresponds to that of the Colt. The combination of safety and slide catch levers is interesting.
history
The production amounted to a few thousand pistols, these were manufactured before 1940 by the state arms factory in the capital Mexico . The weapon was used to equip secondary units of the Mexican army until the 1970s. Most of the 800 weapons made for the civilian market were also bought up from official agencies and used to equip police corps.
Since the Obregón is a high quality and also rare weapon based on the Colt M1911, it is a sought-after collector's item.
