The Observatorio Astronómico de Córdoba (formerly Observatorio Nacional Argentino ) is an astronomical observatory in Córdoba , Argentina . It belongs to the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba . The IAU code is 822.

history

The observatory was founded on October 24, 1871 by the then President of Argentina Domingo Faustino Sarmiento at the suggestion of Nicolás Avellaneda . Benjamin Apthorp Gould became the first director .
