The observatory Skalnaté Pleso ( Slovak Observatórium Skalnaté pleso ) is an observatory in Slovakia . It was founded in 1943 and was also used for astrometric tasks in higher geodesy . The building also houses a meteorological observation station. It lies above the village of Tatranská Lomnica at an altitude of 1786 m and is surrounded by a ski area.

There is a 61 cm Newtonian telescope and a 60 cm Cassegrain telescope each in a dome of the observatory. The asteroid of the main outer belt (2619) Skalnaté Pleso is named after the observatory.
