Tatranská Lomnica
Tatranská Lomnica (German Tatralomnitz , Hungarian Tátralomnic ) is a village in the town of Vysoké Tatry with 2000 inhabitants and is 850 m above sea level. NN. The place is the tourist center of the Slovak High Tatras . This is where the national park administration and the associated nationally known TANAP museum are located.
history
The place was founded in 1892. Tatranská Lomnica is located in the Veľká Lomnica area , the first state climatic health resort in the High Tatras. The hotels Lomnica and Praha, among others, date from this period. Since 1912, the place endpoint is the Tatra Electric Railway of Poprad . In 1940 the first gondola lift to the Lomnitzerspitze was built . Until 1960 the place belonged to the Starý Smokovec community and was independent until it was incorporated into Vysoké Tatry.

From Tatranská Lomnica a cable car leads to Skalnaté pleso (Steinbachsee) at an altitude of 1,750 m. The Tatra observatory is located there. From there another cable car leads to Lomnický štít (Lomnicky Peak), 2632 m, and a chair lift to Lomnický hrebeň (Lomnicky Saddle), 2200 m. Many day tourists come to Tatranská Lomnica with the Tatra Railway. The place is the starting point for mountain hikes and cable car rides.
Sports
In Tatranská Lomnica there were three smaller ski jumping hills with the Jamy ski jumps until the demolition in 2008 , of which only the K28 has survived.
