The valley station of the Ochsengartenbahn

The Ochsengartenbahn is a cable car in the Stubai Alps that leads from the Haiming district of Ochsengarten to the Hochoetz ski area .

Technical specifications

The Ochsengartenbahn is a monocable gondola with cabins that can transport four people (eight people from 12/16). The valley station of the railway is at an altitude of 1,507 meters, the mountain station is 2022 meters high. The Ochsengartenbahn does not have a middle station. The distance between the valley and mountain stations is around 1.7 kilometers. On the steepest incline, it has a gradient of a good 92 percent.

history

The Ochsengartenbahn was built in 1999, whereby the cabins and parts of the other equipment of the old Giggijochbahn were reused. This cable car, located in the Sölden ski area and built in 1977, had been dismantled the previous year to make room for the construction of a more modern gondola lift.

The procedure from 1999 is currently being repeated: The current Giggijochbahn from Sölden is giving way to a new building and will have a new location as the new Ochsengartenbahn. The new Ochsengarten cable car with cabins for 8 people (identical in construction and replacement parts to the Acherkogel cable car ) will go into operation in December 2016.
