Ochthephilus , Syn. Ancyrophorus, is a genus of beetles from the family of the short-winged birds (Staphylinidae) within the subfamily Oxytelinae . It occurs in Europe with 21 species, 8 of which also occur in Central Europe.

features

The beetles look very similar to those of the genus Trogophloeus , but differ from them by the last link of the jaw palpation , which is longer, broader at the base and very pointed at the end, and by the significantly longer and flat wing .

Occurrence and way of life

The animals are particularly widespread in mountain areas and often appear together with Lesteva species in shaded rivers . They live in damp moss.
