The Ocypodidae are a family of crabs (Brachyura). All representatives of the Ocypodidae live amphibiously on the beaches of tropical seas, on sand, mud or in mangroves . Most species dig burrows in the ground for protection, into which they also retreat during the flood .

Systematics

The family of the Ocypodidae originally comprised 18 genera, u. a. the mangrove crabs ( Ucides ). According to the current system, this family is divided into two subfamilies, each with one genus:
