Odden Færgehavn (short Odden ; German Odden Fährhafen ) is a ferry port on the south coast of the Danish peninsula Sjællands Odde , which is in the area of Odsherred Municipality on the island of Zealand . The port is used exclusively by Molslinjen ferries coming from Ebeltoft (45 minutes journey time) or the ferry port in Aarhus (70 minutes); other ships such as yachts are not permitted there. In 2010, over 672,000 cars and around 1,777,250 passengers traveled on the two routes.
The harbor basin is protected from the open sea by two piers . The terminal building, an oil store and a sewage treatment plant for cleaning the dirty water from the ferries are located in the port area. From the parking lots, motor vehicles reach the car ferries via ramps .
The port is owned by A / S Storebælt , which is wholly owned by the Copenhagen-based Sund & Bælt Holding A / S and operates three other ferry ports in addition to Odden Færgehavn: Ebeltoft, Spodsbjerg and Tårs . The company's customer and tenant of the port is the Danish shipping company Molslinjen. It began operations on May 18, 1966, when the Mette Mols ferry, built for this purpose, first operated between Odden Færgehavn and Ebeltoft in Jutland. Another route was added on April 26, 1999 when the port of destination for the ferry route from Aarhus was moved from Kalundborg to Odden Færgehavn. In return, Odden Færgehavn lost the ferry connection for goods transport to Aarhus to the more southerly Kalundborg in December of the same year.
Odden Færgehavn is a member of the national association Danske Havne , an association of Danish commercial ports .
