Oded Lev-Ari

Oded Lev-Ari (* 1975 in Tel-Aviv ) is an Israeli jazz musician ( piano , composition , arrangement , conducting) and music producer .

Live and act

Lev-Ari graduated from Thelma Yelin High School for the Arts , where he quickly made friends with classmate Anat Cohen . He did his military service in the orchestra of the Israel Defense Forces; from 1993 to 1996 he was house arranger for the television talk show Dan Shilon - Live! As a scholarship holder of the America Israel Cultural Fund , he studied at the New England Conservatory in Boston with Bob Brookmeyer and graduated with honors.

Lev-Ari's arrangements for Anat Cohen's album Noir (2007), with their orchestration reminiscent of Gil Evans , received critical acclaim. He has written more than 500 arrangements and compositions for chamber and wind ensembles, big bands and symphony orchestras as well as various jazz combos, including for Cohen's albums Luminosa and Triple Helix .

In 2015 he released his debut album under his own name, Threading in April , on the Anzic Records label , which he owns and directs with Anat Cohen. As a producer he is responsible for albums by the 3 Cohens , Anat Cohen, Marty Ehrlich , Amy Cervini and Melissa Stylianou and the vocal trio Duchess with Cervini, Stylianou and Hilary Gardner.
