The Oderlandmuseum is a museum in Bad Freienwalde (Oder) in the district of Märkisch-Oderland . The museum was founded in 1889, making it one of the oldest museums in Brandenburg.

The House

The house is located at Uchtenhagenstrasse 2 across from the town hall and the Nikolaikirche . It is Loeben's Freihaus . A house was built on the property around 1560. In 1602 Hans von Uchtenhagen granted the property the privilege of being a free house property for his manager. In 1667 a new house was built, this was replaced by the one that exists today in 1775. After the construction, the house changed hands several times. In 1860 Ernst Haeckel lived in the house with his brother Karl. This was a judge in Bad Freienwalde. In the 1920s the house became the property of the city of Bad Freienwalde and it was used as an administration building. The museum was then opened on August 1, 1952.

The house is a half-timbered house with two floors and a hipped roof . The facade was built in the late Baroque style and has six axes . In the third axis from the left there is the entrance with a flight of stairs in front of it, in the sixth axis there is an entrance. The baroque door has been preserved. Above the door is the monogram “FvL” for “Friedrich von Loeben”.

The house is listed.
