Odili Donald Odita (* 1966 in Enugu , Eastern Region , Nigeria ) is a Nigerian painter and installation artist .

Life

Odita, who comes from the Nigerian ethnic group of the Ibo , grew up in Columbus (Ohio) in the USA . He completed the painting classes at Ohio State University in Columbus with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) with distinction. He then went to Bennington College in Bennington (Vermont) , where he finished his studies in 1990 with a Master of Fine Arts .

2010 Odita lived in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , where he attended the painting for specialist Associate Professor Temple University belonging Tyler School of Art was.

Odita mainly works with oil paints on canvas, but also paints other surfaces such as Plexiglas. Furthermore, he occasionally combines his large-format paintings with other materials to create installations.
