Odulf of Utrecht
Saint Odulf of Utrecht , also Odulphus, Olof, Oelbert (* unknown; † in Utrecht around 854) was a Benedictine and missionary in Friesland. He is known as the "Apostle of the Frisians". His feast day is June 12th.
Life
Odulf's father Ludgis owned his own church in Oirschot in North Brabant. Odulf initially worked there after his ordination and training at the Utrecht Cathedral School. He later worked as a missionary and pastor in Friesland. Before his death he returned to Utrecht. Today he is worshiped mainly in Belgium and the Netherlands. After his death, relics are said to have reached Stavoren in what is now the Dutch part of Friesland and Evesham in Worcestershire. He is the patron saint of the municipality of Best and appears in the coat of arms of this small town.
